Shida 01 Rack / 3 shelf

The Shida 01 Rack is designed as part of the audio system, not simply as furniture to put it on.
A rack provides the mechanical connection between your equipment and the room around it. Vibration can travel through that structure, and the way it is supported, coupled and isolated can influence what you hear.
 
The 01 Rack uses a combination of solid hardwood, high density Keruing plywood and Shida's S55 elastomer isolation system. Each material has a specific role, with the top boards decoupled from the supporting structure to control the transmission of vibration to very low frequencies..
 
The result is a quieter, more stable foundation from which your equipment can perform. In listening, this can bring greater clarity and definition, more natural tone and texture, and a greater sense of ease.
The choice of materials isn't simply about appearance. Wood happens to work particularly well in the structures we develop, but the material has to earn its place through how it behaves. The same applies to every interface and construction detail.
 
The racks are carefully made and finished by hand, but the craftsmanship is there to serve the design. The aim is not to make furniture that happens to hold a hi-fi system, but a support that becomes part of the system itself.
