Shida 01 Rack / 6 shelf

With six shelves, the 01 six shelf double width is a substantial structure, but the principle remains the same: the rack is designed as part of the audio system, not simply as furniture to hold it.
 
Every component is mechanically connected to the structure around it. Vibration from the equipment, the floor and the structure itself can travel through those connections, influencing what we hear. The aim of the 01 is to control those paths rather than simply add mass or damping.
 
The main structure is made from solid hardwood, with high density Keruing plywood used for the shelves. Each shelf is supported through Shida's S55 elastomer system, providing controlled isolation between the equipment and the structure beneath it.
 
The result is a stable, carefully controlled environment for a complete system. In listening, the changes can be subtle but significant: greater clarity and definition, more natural tone and texture, and a sense of ease that allows the music to come through with less distraction.
As with all Shida products, the materials aren't chosen simply because they look good together. Their mechanical behaviour is part of the design. Construction, interfaces and the way energy moves through the rack are considered as a whole.
 
The rack is carefully made from natural materials and finished by hand, but its purpose is ultimately simple: to provide a support that allows the equipment to perform at its best.
